They said no rehab

I went to the place to talk about rehab they said that I was not at that point. They put me in an out patient recovery program. I was lucky enough to not pay for the program. The bad part is that it starts on the 23 of this month.

Damn authorities, never understand the urgency of now! What are you going to do until then? I was worried about withdrawals when I quit but I couldn't get a docs appointment for a week. I just stopped anyway. Maybe not the wisest thing but I didn't feel like carrying on was an option. But you're sober now right? Could you go to AA meetings or something?

Dee74 04-09-2012 03:21 PM

I'm sorry it didn't work out like you planned, but even if you'd gone to rehab the buck will always stop with you act10N...there's no magic pill to make us want to stop drinking...we all have to want to be sober and work at it.

whats your plan now?

Outpatient therapy could be better for you, so take it as a positive. You have been sober almost a week now so continue until the 23rd.... then maybe you won't even need it. :lmao

That sucks. My insurance company refused to pay for my rehab last year because they wanted me to try therapy first and save rehab "as a last resort". I ended up paying for my own rehab. I agree with hypochondriac; these supposed "experts" in the mental health profession don't really seem to have any sense of urgency.

They did that to see if you were serious about recovery. What are you planning to do until the 23rd ??
I'd be hitting all the AA meetings I could find, you have nothing better to do with your time.

All the best.

I agree with Dee's comments.

Whether it's inpatient or outpatient rehab, it all comes down to you and how you will do this. :)

well they can't just start a new class every night. give em some slack, it's free!

Spinach 04-09-2012 04:24 PM

Hey use it for good .
Show them how hard it is for you but your still managing then when it comes round and it will be here soon ,you'll know more about what you need.
All the best.
John.

Takes alot of courage what you did....glad you were accepted for outpatient. Keep posting/reading at SR and keep your resolve to stay quit. Have you considered going to AA in helping you maintain your recovery?

Sorry to hear about rehab being a no-go. Out patient sounds good though!

I've known plenty of people to do out patient programs and it's no joke! Pretty intensive from what I hear, and it will be good to set you don't the right path. Take all the advise your getting, go to meetings and get support online, that's available 24 hours, the number in the phone book is available 24hrs too :)
