I was a paralegal for 20 years, then a stay at home wife/mom. Currently, I'm studying to become a therapeutic horseback riding instructor and volunteering at a riding center until I can start as a student instructor this summer.

That's the short resume!

Was a computer analyst/programmer. I'm now retired for nearly 6 years. Six months before I retired I started trying to quit. Tons of meds, outpatient, inpatient, AA Rational Recovery, therapy, on and on. Won't quit trying though.
Geez... where to start? I was raised around the timber industry since very young, my first real job was in a pet store when I was 14. I have washed dishes, construction (wood frame housing and cell phone towers) Worked at a humane society, owned a landscaping company, was a maitre'd at a 4 star inn and rest., worked in a minimart, sold computers for dell, auto detail, security in a casino, onsite security for a road company, commercial firesafe (cleaning grease hoods, lol!) lamination factory, Co-owned a small logging company, small scale timber milling, pot grower, hand split posts and rails, raised 3 step children. I'm sure I am forgetting stuff. My latest income has been doing sound and lights for dances and such. I buy and sell a lot of cars.
I went to college for administration of justice. I am disabled and trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up! lol

self employed carpenter, been doing it for 10 years now. first job was 2 years at a big grocery store, ended up quitting of my own accord. then i got a factory position making hot tubs, terrible job.....way to rigid(even if i am sober). at the time i was drinking, had an hour commute to get there and the job started at 6:30am.........needless to say it didn't last long. after that i got a job as a mountain bike mechanic and loved it. i was actually pretty healthy at that time. i still drank, but not to excess, i rode my bike to commute(about 30kms each day) and was in good shape physically. i ended up quitting after over a year when i asked them to start paying me my overtime(required by law for shifts over 8hrs, i always worked 10hrs). they refused, so i quit, got the ministry involved and forced to pay everything they owed me......also got on unemployment.
i used that time off though to up my drinking and that when everything spiraled out of control. ended up getting sober in 06 and stayed that way for 4.5 years. my life improved dramatically, and i still have all of that today even after a year+ relapse(well, my health isn't as top notch of course, but not bad)
my business is still booming and i am doing well financially and with my family, but i do believe i am at a fork in the road. one goes downhill fast, the other keeps going up. on day 2 again.

Post secondary teacher / department head.
Married to a man with the most erratic career imaginable--a new IT job every 18-24 months for 30 years. Sometimes more often. Hence the stress. I can actually control my own behavior!

Professional Cook for 17yrs, allowed me to travel a great deal and drink to my hearts content. 10yrs as a Woodworker/Machine Operator which I have mixed feelings about. Currently unemployed but plan on changing that in the near future.
Concert buyer/producer for 12 years - culinary arts degree in 2001 and have been working in that field since in varying areas - personal chef, restaurant owner, currently manage a 24 hour restaurant in a casino. Fair to say I detest last call drunks? Seeing that kind of behavior on a regular basis keeps me walking the straight and narrow sober path.

I am a support worker for adults with learning difficulties, that's how my drink problem got worse as I do 24 hours shifts, so would come home after and drink a whole load of wine to 'relax'. Not anymore though! I come home and read, walk, clean you get the picture lol
Still I rise.
