I was a lawyer for 5 years. Hated it, so I went back to school and got an LL.M. in tax law.
Now I'm a tax consultant for retirement benefits and executive compensation at a big four professional services firm.

City prosecutor. Not too stressful. But am doing it because I screwed up a more prestigious position in a different division because of my drinking and took a transfer to what is essentially an entry level position. I did get sober in the new slot, after a bit. Rather poor form to be prosecuting people for public intoxication while I smelled of alcohol.
Started drinking in college to alleviate social anxiety and kept on going from there. Then I started drinking to cope with life, the universe and everything. Grateful to be sober today.

Great thread!
Driver Ed Instructor (can ya believe I actually didn't drink heavily at THAT point?)
Lots of service jobs until I completed my degree in computer sciences.
Director of Client Services for a software firm - 80 hrs a week, burn out, and lost job due to an email that I sent while under the influence regarding that burnout.
Because of sobriety, I now work for a different BETTER company where I started as an operations assistant and now, just recently, getting ready to jump into the role of Director of Client Services! This company allows us to work from home, pretty much make our own schedule, and we aren't treated as though we're in kindergarten. They don't hand us an M&M and try to make us believe we got the whole bag. SOBRIETY ROCKS!
I also recently started volunteering.
Did I say SOBRIETY ROCKS?

Recent college graduate.
Currently interviewing for a position in the Import/Export sector and have another option that I've already been nominated for, but it's something far far different and clear across the globe. Should know more by next week.
