A poem I found today
Heya everyone 
this is a poem I found today, hope it helps people as much as it has helped me the past few days
A startling thaw from the numbness
People, colors, and smells are so vivid and far too real
I realise that I don't know who I am without my lover
It's been my anesthetic for so, so long
The mistakes I've made surface, crystal clear and glaring
I have to look away; I can't possibly face the world this way
I can't reconcile my past
The pain of it all is searing and sharp, like a blade in my side
A new lover approaches, slowly, locking its eyes with mine
I ask myself, do you have the courage for this?
Can you embrace this new lover without the numbness?
Will it embrace me as I am?
Nonetheless, it's standing before me, waiting for my decision
It holds all the promise and possibility of a new life,
Terrifying as it is
I step closer and meet it's eyes
I close my eyes, all the memories that haunt me flashing in
my mind, along with the hope for the future
I lean forward with bated breath, trembling
I feel its breath on my cheek
Our lips meet, an explosion of reality, colors, people, sound
and¦ the sudden realization that I can do this
The Kiss of Sobriety
The Kiss of Sobriety I feel my feet on solid ground beneath me
A deep sigh of relief
Then I open my eyes to a new world
