That was a good read. I have been sober 71 days, not that I'm counting, just checked out of curiosity but I have no desire to drink EVER again.
And I've asked myself the same question. How did I finally get it? Get past craving, get it thru my head. Answer: a little of all of it. I want to explain to newcomers "how" to do it but I don't have a one size fits all answer. I did a little of everything b/c I was READY to be done.
I think the answer is in ACTION, do something, keep trying.
I haven't had a desire to drink, feel its not an option for me, yet I just ordered more books on alcoholism. Allen Carrs book, Rational Recovery, etc. I think it's never a bad idea to be proactive, ready, prepared b/c it is cunning. It may lay dormant but will try to sneak up on you when you let your guard down.
So I'll be ready when the monster tries to rear its ugly head.

Thanks for posting this article

Thanks Dointhis. I've bookmarked the site as well.

Purplecat, I felt like you opened a door and came inside my mind. You captured my thoughts and experience perfectly.

I was READY to be done - Amen!!!!

One more thing - I will not allow myself to become complacent. Like you said, this beast is very patient. I never forget that.

I haven't had a chance to read the article yet, but I LOVE that site. I read it every week.
