Hi Melissa, and welcome.

Great choice to go to rehab. If you let it work for you, and you work for it, you are in store for a much better life.

Glad you're here!

Hi Mel,
I went to rehab this time last year. It was really an enlightening and life-changing experience, and I met some great people! I had a pre-conceived notion of it being like a mental institution haha. Good luck!

Welcome Sweet Melissa!

I went to rehab back in 91 for 7 months. It was a life changing experience. I met a lot of wonderful women with whom I have staying in touch with 4 of them, even after all of these years! At first I remember thinking some of the rules were dumb, but as I look back I see them as useful. I kind of was a know it all when I arrived, but since I wasn't willing to get really real and wore a mask a lot of the time, I didn't glean as much as I hoped.

I finally learned what all my pain was over and why I used to pick up in the first place.

I guess my tidbit for you would be to relinquish control. When you can let your control go of the small stuff you will find yourself become more and more serene.....

Page 417 in the Big Book says: And acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed, it is because I find some person, place, thing, or situation-some fact of my life -unacceptable to me, and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing, or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God's world by mistake.

This is sooo true, oh how I wish I had grasped this concept 20 yrs earlier. I only realized this last January. It just sort of dawned on me one day when I had many things planned and God kept allowing other things to crop up that day, and something came over me to just "Go with it...." I did and I kept my peace!

Today I do this in relationships too! (I am married, but in relationships with women. I keep my hand open and God takes some women away and puts in other wonderful women into my life) I don't try to pick friends anymore, I just allow the Lord to do it for me and he does a way better job!

Blessings to you in rehab...let us know how it goes!

Lily
