A bit late to the party, but I'm up here in Scotland! 16 days sober now and I highly recommend it. I started being a 'heavy' 'social' drinker (well, most of my drinking was at home, but you know what I mean) and ended up in a terrible state, with hospitals, police etc etc. All through this I somehow held my (good) job, kept my husband and my child, though by all accounts I deserved to lose everything from my behaviour and actions. By the Grace of God I didn't and I am now working on rebuilding my life, sober.
I am 37 years old and never would have imagined that these things could ever have happened to me - on the face of it you would think I am a respectable responsible citizen, but underneath and behind closed doors has been a completely different story.
If you are thinking that you need to stop drinking now, then do it, don't wait until it is much, much harder and you have broken more things in your life such as relationships, trust, friendships etc.
Best wishes - I know you can do it!

Hi Bruno,
Just found this site myself earlier tonight, was in the same boat as yourself drinking way too much, blacking out, not remembering what I had done the night before, I had a 5 pints of stout yesterday in a friends pub as it was Paddy's day and said to myself, this is it, no more, going to try my hardest to stay dry from now on, I am sick of the hastle that comes along with the demon drink!!!!
Best of luck fella, one day at a time........
