All We Need is Love... especially me today :(
Hi Everyone
Thought I would share this song... I guess I'm in a sad sappy mood today.
It reminds me of my addiction and music seems to make my soul feel better, I know it sounds pretty cheesy but it's true. If anyone else can recommend some songs that would be great.
My relationship ended this week with my boyfriend and I guess I'm just in "sorry for myself"city. I know it's the best thing because I was putting my recovery on the back burner and focusing too much on him. Now I can put all my attention on the one thing I want most in the world right now, being clean and sober.
I know I'm a different person now to him and maybe that's what tore us apart. He is still dealing with his alcohol/coke addiction and I'm a recovering oxy addict. I haven't used since last February and I'm in a program as well. I know full well that I can't save him although I tried. I know you have to want it for yourself but I was the one person that was in his corner and understood.
I guess he couldn't deal with the guilt and shame of being around me because I'm doing really well and he is still struggling. I never judged him though, I always accepted him as he was and I always had his back and was rooting for him.
Anyway, just thought I would post my sad little story. I have to expect that bad things are going to happen in my life and I have to deal with them sober instead of running to substances to dull the pain (so I guess this a real test of my will power)

We are all so different on this forum, but recovery brings us all together. Here is one of my favorite tunes right now.
Some background is the author and singer of this song, Laura Story is married and her husband has been struggling w/ a brain tumor. (I lost my first husband to brain cancer) this song is awesome!
