the hard thing right now is that i know that the drinking.mixingis killing me, but I have much more fear about quitting. i feel like that is what is going to do me in (whether alone or medically assisted).

They won't let you die medically assisted....I'm sure they've done worse than you...Probably not much worse....But I wouldn't give you real good odds on doing it alone....I'd hope you'd be smart enough to go to the ER before you tried that.....What's your holdup?...No insurance or something?

Honestly my only holdup is that i am a huge sports afn and want to see who wins the college hoops chhampionship

Why don't you make a call and get some help...You could at least call your local AA hotline and they'll send a couple people out to talk to you..It's free...They'll take you someplace to detox if that's what you need...

anyone been through medical detox? how long does it last. im not a huge fan of having my body pumped full of drugs

Stop drinking is scary - but you're not alone legalage.

You have hundreds of people here who'll tell you that quitting was the best thing they ever did.

If you want your life to change - make those changes man

If you're concerned or scared about withdrawal, go and see a Dr - it really is the best bet

LA, I feel like someone should tell you that you are always welcome to come back and talk, please do, I've been through some similar experiences, not quite as heavy duty, but all the same, please don't ruin your health..

LA, no one here is judging you. We just want you to get help. We don't want to see you spiral into worse shape than you are. I know it feels like you are alone, drowning, & no way to escape.
You came here for advice, that's what's been given. But YOU have to do something.
You have to stop drinking, it's distorting your thinking.

I know you think you can't survive w/ out it but the truth is, it's killing you.
You can recover & be normal. Lots of people here have overcome this addiction.
I drank a quart of vodka a night, popped Xanax , Ambien , muscle relaxers. It's a miracle I'm still alive. I never thought I could stop. But I DID. 2 months sober & never felt better.

Please don't be angry w/ us. We're trying to help you.

Yeah, I've done that one before too. Never seemed to bother or hurt the other person as much as I thought it would. Didn't really make anyone feel sorry for me either.
