I stopped counting days after three months. On some level I was still trying to keep track of how many months I had. I kept thinking that the 11th was going to be 5 months of sobriety for me. Tonight I realized that it was actually six months for me! I started crying (tears of joy).

At first I was surprised by the way I reacted. I didn't understand why I started crying. It makes sense to me now... For six months I haven't had a blackout. Haven't woken up with massive anxiety, depression, nausea, sweating etc., because of drinking. I wake up early and enjoy getting up, when before all I wanted to do was sleep my life away. That mental obsession with alcohol is gone.

Thank you SR and the members of this community, your support and the wisdom I gained from reading posts helped me get my life back, and for that I am forever grateful.

I cried on the morning of my six months. I was overwhelmed, so thankful that something I had never thought possible had come to pass. I had found a way and it was (is) working. Thank you! And well done

@instant- I agree it is overwhelming. For so many years I wanted to be free from alcohol, with many failed promises to myself to stop. I guess I never thought I would make it this far, and am so thankful I have.

@CaiHong- I truly am enjoying sobriety. I love it. My life is so much better without alcohol, I don't ever want to go back to that dark place.

I have also stopped counting just now counting the months of precious sobriety allways keeping in mind that i have seen 35 years of sobriety being lost on a drinking and using bender please remember that this life long diseases will eventually tell you that its ok to go back out and drink and use that is why we have websites blogs etc to use to hopefully prevent a relapse
