Songs that have helped you with your soberiety

I am searching for a song that I can listen to that will make me feel good about my soberiety when I'm having a bad day.( Not that today is a bad day) I know that there will be a few days like that in my future. Any of you feel comfortable sharing what helped you through the bad days??

Holly

I think there's a thread in one of the other forums with a ton of pages if you wanna sift through there, there's some good ones in there. I personally listen to whatever I feel like, it changes day by day, even sometimes hour by hour lol.

You might think it's cheesy but I used to love that Michael Bolton song, "When I'm Back On My Feet Again".

My absolute favorite is "Wasted" by Carrie Underwood.

Standing at the back door
She tried to make it fast
One tear hit the hard wood
It fell like broken glass
She said sometimes love slips away
And you just can't get it back
Let's face it

For one split second
She almost turned around
But that would be like pouring rain drops
Back into a cloud
So she took another step and said
I see the way out and I'm gonna' take it

I don't wanna' spend my life jaded
Waiting to wake up one day and find
That I've let all these years go by
Wasted

Another glass of whisky but it still don't kill the pain
So he stumbles to the sink and pours it down the drain
He says it's time to be a man and stop living for yesterday
Gotta face it.

Cause' I don't wanna' spend my life jaded
Waiting to wake up one day and find
That I've let all these years go by
Wasted

Oh I don't wanna' keep on wishing, missing
The still of the morning, the color of the night
I ain't spending no more time
Wasted

She kept drivin' along
Till the moon and the sun were floating side-by-side
He looked in the mirror and his eyes were clear
For the first time in a while

Hey, yeah,
Oh, I don't wanna' spend my life jaded
Waiting to wake up one day and find
That I've let all these years go by
Wasted

Oh I don't wanna' keep on wishing, missing
The still of the morning, the color of the night
I ain't spending no more time
Wasted

Oh, I don't wanna' spend my life jaded
Waiting to wake up one day and find
That I've let all these years go by
Wasted

Yeah, yeah
Oh I don't wanna' keep on wishing, missing
The still of the morning, the color of the night
I ain't spending no more time
Wasted

Band called Red.this song was performed on Conan bout a year ago, all of their songs can be uplifting and helpful with recovery.

Faceless lyrics

A voice screaming from within
Begging just to feel again
Can't find who I am without you near me
I'd give anything to live
Cause without you I don't exist
Your the only one who saves me from myself
I abandoned this love and laid it to rest
And now I'm one of the forgotten

I'm not, I'm not myself
Feel like I'm someone else
Fallen and faceless
So hollow, hollow inside
A part of me is dead
Need you to live again
Can you replace this
I'm hollow, hollow and faceless

Shadows growing in my mind
Ones I just can't leave behind
I'm not strong enough to pay this ransom
One more monster crawled inside
But I swear I saw it die
Can you save me from the nothing I've become
[- From: FACELESS Lyrics - RED -]
I abandoned this love and laid it to rest
And now I'm one of the forgotten

I'm not, I'm not myself
Feel like I'm someone else
Fallen and faceless
So hollow, hollow inside
A part of me is dead
Need you to live again
Can you replace this
I'm hollow, hollow and faceless

I'm faceless
I'm hollow and faceless

We are the faceless
We are the nameless
We are the hopeless
Until we have faces

I'm not, I'm not myself
Feel like I'm someone else
Fallen and faceless
So hollow, hollow inside
A part of me is dead
Need you to live again
Can you replace this
I'm hollow, hollow and faceless

I know that for my first 4-6 months in recovery, I had to AVOID certain albums/artists. I had some really angry stuff on my playlist. I replaced the angry stuff with 60s and 70s stuff that my wife is really into. Simon and Garfunkel is a personal favorite and I don't think i could narrow it down to a specific song :P

Yes I've been having that same concern. I've got some really good music but a lot of it is so intense it really brings me back to when I was drinking... I guess if not listening to "Some" of my music will help avoid a trigger then that is what I have to do! I think I'll focus on more positive "HAPPY" stuff for a while.

Mumford and Sons seem to have some good recovery type messages in their songs if you're listening for them. This is my favourite

It's empty in the valley of your heart
The sun, it rises slowly as you walk
Away from all the fears
And all the faults you've left behind

The harvest left no food for you to eat
You cannibal, you meat-eater, you see
But I have seen the same
I know the shame in your defeat

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

Cause I have other things to fill my time
You take what is yours and I'll take mine
Now let me at the truth
Which will refresh my broken mind

So tie me to a post and block my ears
I can see widows and orphans through my tears
I know my call despite my faults
And despite my growing fears

But I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

So come out of your cave walking on your hands
And see the world hanging upside down
You can understand dependence
When you know the maker's land

So make your siren's call
And sing all you want
I will not hear what you have to say

Cause I need freedom now
And I need to know how
To live my life as it's meant to be

And I will hold on hope
And I won't let you choke
On the noose around your neck

And I'll find strength in pain
And I will change my ways
I'll know my name as it's called again

I'm not much for music (with lyrics), but I find electronica like this lifts me up a bit:

"Snow" by Red Hot Chili Peppers. Basically saying even the worst things in life can be covered up with a brand new fresh start. The nasty, dry dirt on the ground can be covered with a fresh layer of snow powder. Very inspirational song for me. The lead singer Anthony Keidis is an ex-drug addict. He subliminally speaks a lot about addiction.
