2nd AA meeting
and I thought it was so great! Much better than my first one because my knees weren't knocking together from the anxiety of walking in haha The stories I heard there, some are so similar to mine. Hell, I could relate to at least 2 things everyone shared. I love SR and it has been such a life line for me but I am really glad I started going to meetings because I am alone where I live and it's really nice to have some face to face support. Actually, it's NECCESSARY I have face to face support because the way I was trying to recover just wasn't working. I am going to keep on keepin on and hope that I learn ever more along this journey. Just wanted to share my experience for those who like me, used be very weary or scared of going to AA. I know it doesn't work for everyone and not everyone needs it, but I sure do

I agree that not everyone needs it, and it certainly isn't the only way to stay sober. However, I hear that first part of your statement thrown around quite a bit, especially on this forum, and it runs counter to my experience.
I've seen many thousands of people come into AA. I have never seen anyone who takes the Steps as directed out of the Big Book fail to stay sober.
Some people may have a bad experience with AA, or for whatever reason not be willing or able to take the Steps. But for those that do, I've always seen it work. Usually with profound and dramatic results.
Once someone has that life-changing experience brought about by the Steps, it's easy to understand why words like 'miracle' are used to describe it.
