Rehab on Monday...
Rehab on Monday...
I have been struggling with addiction to alcohol for years. Anyone who reads my blogs or chats with me in the room on SR knows that.
To get to the point: I am going to rehab on Monday. It is a 30 day rehab. All female, counselors on site, and it is AA based.
I would just really appreciate any advice or wise words...
I'm nervous, scared, and ready...

That's good! Make sure you don't back out before Monday and make sure you stay there the entire 30 days, no matter what. Since you have 6 days until you go in, maybe you can use this time to get a head start. Even if you just cut back your drinking for 6 days it will make rehab easier once you start. You're making a great decision!
Good luck! You will do great. You seem very willing and that is the key. Just go with an open mind and try to follow what they say to do.
I will be honest, that was hard for me to do, because if there is a rule, I want to break it!

Linz - I just want to send you some love and to tell you I'm proud of you for making this decision. Nervous, scared, & ready - that sure sums up how I felt when I decided to quit.
Along with being a little hesitant, this is also something to be excited about. You can have a whole new life - the insanity can end here. No more misery - you'll be free. We'll all be thinking of you on Monday, and look forward to your return.

Linz - going to rehab was the BEST thing I ever did. I was nervous, scared and ready too...but I got through those feelings because I finally had hope and a chance to STOP the hell I was living.
Give this gift to yourself - deep breaths....and embrace it
You'll be just fine
Big hugs

eh1988 said it pretty well. Show up on time, do the whole 30.
Linz, I had to admit defeat and become teachable. As long as I held onto a thought that I could beat this demon I was fighting a losing battle... I had to surrender. In that surrender came my strength and so will yours if do it. Trust the program.
Good luck (there really is no "LUCK" involved) and all the best.

Participate in your groups. Ask questions. Soak it all up.
You will find that you will make some really close friends there. Hang on to each other. Support one another.
This could be the start of a whole new life for you.
God bless.

Good for you. Advice? Don't get too close with the other clients---friendships are ok but it's so easy for rehab buddies to pull each other down and start feeling way too responsible for the others reactions and feelings.
keep an open mind.
Good lucks

I've never been to inpatient, but have been to three outpatient. just a wild guess here but if there's people there that were forced to go, steer clear of them, you have to really want rehab for it to work, at least from my experience.
Good luck! Rehab really turned my life around. It was the hardest thing I've ever gone through, and I'm a little embarrassed to admit that on my first day there I cried for an hour. I just couldn't believe that my life had sunk to such a low that I had to go to rehab. In reality, that first week was terrible and hard and I wanted to leave so bad, but after that I started to adjust and things got easier and better. By the time I left I wish I could have stayed longer.
Try to make the most of your time there. I was in an all males program, and regardless of age when you get 50-70 men together with nothing to do they turn into a bunch of immature boys. Everything turns into a pissing contest and nobody wants to do what they're told. If it's like that for you at all I would just encourage you to throw yourself into the program regardless of what everyone else is doing. I had to pay for rehab out of pocket, so you better believe I made the most of my time there.

Sapling,
I am pretty familiar with AA stuff... I've been to a handful of meetings and own a Big Book, and a 12 & 12 book.
Thank you for your reply! Very much appreciated!
