Hello - newcomer to site
Hi,
I'm new to this website just happened upon it today when I was looking for a definition of a Wet Brain. I have been sober since Feb 14th (disastrous Valentine's day but that's another story). I have been around AA for 6/8 months and discounting Valentine's day slip have been sober. Started doing service and attending meetings regularly. I think I am starting to get the message it's that old acceptance thing, takes time for some of us. Anyway got myself a sponsor which really helps and starting to go through the BB.
I can go along for days without thoughts of drink and then it will hit me , it's a work thing for me when I'm fed up, bored or stressed I would always go and drink lunchtimes and evenings. It was part of the culture, not so much anymore.
Anyway I have the usual mess left behind after many years of alcoholic drinking, financial insecurity, paranoia, dishonesty and emptiness. Life is getting better by the day, just need to keep on doing it.
Just thought I'd say hello.

Hi Paddy! You sound very positive & ready to do this. It took me a very long time to get the message - and I too had a mess to clean up - but we're doing it. It does get better as you go along. You never have to revisit that miserable old life. Congratulations.

Glad you're here Paddy28...Tell you sponsor you want to work the steps...That will take care of clearing the wreckage of your past...Lighten your load a little bit....Wet Brain?...I think that's where you're laid out flat in a little white smock waiting for the med cart to show up.....I don't think you want to go there....Enjoy the site...AA is a great program...Completely saved and changed my life...But I had to work for it....And I still do.
Welcome to SR! I'm glad you're here. Congrats on your sober time thus far.
I can really relate with acceptance. I'm a very stubborn person and it took a lot of persuading for me to finally get the message.
I hope you stick around and share more of your story with us.
