worried parent

Hello everyone~
I am not in recovery, so not sure if I am allowed here or not. I am concerned about my 31 year old son, who I believe is using meth once again and more then likely has been for over a year or more since rehab in 2009. My big question is....is it depression or meth. Does a person using meth sleep for 4 or more days without showering, or eating or drinking, ? then all of a sudden get up and shower on move around like he is human once again? My son is heavy, but at the time of rehab he was very thin, I keep telling myself he is depressed, no job living with his parents, I don't see any signs except for the sleeping bit, sometimes once a month sometimes more....no open sores or bad teeth, I did however pay for a hair folicle test for him to go to today but never got out of bed to go, he can still go, as it is paid for, and constantly demands I test him, although maybe he thought I would only do the basic urine test. Very foul mouthed and hot tempered but he has always been like this, not sure if depression can do this or not. Can't afford another 30 thousand rehab like before, so....well any answers out there or am I in the wrong place? Thanks

Welcome to SR!

For what it's worth, I answer the phones for the AA hotline and often get calls from Moms with 31 year old "children" who need help. We do have a "Friends and Family Forum" if you scroll down from the Newcomer's Forum. Have you tried Al Anon or NarAnon? It's for families of those of us with addictions.

I feel your pain.
Hugs,
