A few milestones today

1) I made it through a Friday and Saturday night without a drink.
2) Today marks one week sober.
3) This is the first weekend I've spent completely sober for as long as I can remember.

The best part? I really don't feel like I missed out on something by not being drunk.

Actually, I started a new hobby... "survival prepping". Call me a doom and gloomer, but I think the U.S. economy is heading down the toilet... So I did some shopping this weekend. I bought foods that have a long shelf life and an emergency first aid kit. Spent a good chunk of my weekend reading - what to buy, how to store things, etc.

It kept my mind off drinking, and it's better than spending money on booze!

That is awesome! My husband is survivalist, too. It's not a bad idea to be ready, just in case.

Congrats man!

Congratulations on your one week, thisguy! I started to feel much better after a week sober. Glad you aren't missing it & have found things to occupy you.

Good to know!

I bought 2 months worth of food for one person, or about 3 weeks worth for my family. Crazy thing is, I spent less $$ than I most likely would have spent in a bar this weekend.

When I think back to the untold thousands I've spent on booze, I started calculating how much more preparations I could have made for my family. Ugh.

Better late than never!

thisguy84,
Wow - not only did you not drink, but you did something constructive also! Impressive. I am glad you did so well.
