How I got here...
ewo, welcome and congratulations on your excellent choices! When I first quit drinking (2003) I was obsessed with how I would explain to others that I was no longer drinking. I can promise you those thoughts will fade and become very unimportant. I was at first very concerned with not having others think I had a problem, so I would do the excuses -"oh, I can't drink because I'm on a medication..." etc. I have since told those who are important in my lives (relatives, close friends) the real reason, and have received nothing but support. Everyone else simply knows me as a non-drinker. Really, you will find casual acquaintances could care less- they will just think you're a non-drinker. There are so many reasons why people don't drink. When you are first sober, you may feel very self conscious, but I promise that will fade. Best of luck to you!
