Get with the program!

Biting the bullet.

I want to succeed and be happy so I'm getting my **** together. Starting tomorrow I'm going to attend one meeting per day for the next week. That is goal number one. Keeping goals simple and easy to meet so that I will not set myself up for failure.

That sounds doable...Sounds like a good plan..I found setting some time aside each day to read the Big Book was just as important...First 164 pages...Read a chapter a day and when you get done..Start over and read it again...There is a lot in that book...A whole lot.

I have to do this. I've become a pathetic drunk and I don't like myself this way.

Those who know me here know my feelings about AA but to hell with my "feelings." Time to put them aside and stop being so damned stubborn and stupid. I want to get well. I want to be happy. I can't do either if I don't take the bull by the horns.

Good for you FRH. I wasn't thrilled about going to AA at first either, but when weighed against the prospect of continuing to live as I had been, the choice became much easier. Let us know how it goes.

Nobody goes there on a winning streak FRH...Just be open minded and let them show you how to do it...It works. Use the support you have here to help you..

Glad to hear it! You CAN do it.

In addition to the BB, I recommend the 12&12, Daily Reflections and 24 Hours a Day, all can probably be purchased at your meeting.

I know what you mean, we have to be beaten down pretty bad before we become teachable.

I wish you the best. You will like AA, it's worked for me for over 20 yrs.

I hear you, flaming. Fell off the wagon again myself last night. But as long as we keep on trying, we have not failed.

We can do this together. I am humbled too. We'll make it.

Good deal FRH... willingness to set aside what we "want" to do and trying something different... I'M HUMBLED. It's great to watch ppl taking action against alcoholism!!

Also, I sense a little hostility......good! It helped me a lot to get mad AT alcoholism. It helped me with my willingness to do things I wouldn't have ordinarily done.

I did it!

I went to a new meeting today. I ended up loving this one. People said things I really needed to hear and I listened. I even managed to speak without choking on my words. I met several women and exchanged phone numbers and even asked one about going to lunch because she told me that she's willing to be a sponsor.

I'm proud of myself for once.

So many people came over to hug me and reassure me. No judgement.

Saw two people I went through treatment with the first time back in 2006. One is still going strong, the other recently relapsed for the first time.

Nobody was preachy, which was a really big thing for me.

Nice thing is, this group meets every M-W-F.

I'm feeling encouraged.
