I'm an alcoholic

but really didn't want to admit fully to that until this week. Talked again with my therapist this week about going to AA and my first meeting is tomorrow. I am very nervous but hopeful. I truly believe if I don't get more support that I will slip again and drinking will eventually kill me. There was a death in my family and the funeral is this weekend...haven't seen this side of the family in a long time and am going to face my anxieties sober which won't be easy because a lot of them are alcoholics. I will hit up meetings there even though I will be out of state. I think it's a good plan to have in place...

Sorry for your loss. Im proud you are going to try AA.
You have nothing to lose by trying. You will probably enjoy it. Stay strong.

SR has definitely been a great resource for me - lots of people, each with their own unique story and all with the same desire - sobriety. Congratulations on making the commitment to attend an AA meeting tomorrow.

I'm so sorry for your loss, but I found out that dealing with the loss clean/sober? It hurts, but it's a good thing. I don't have the regrets of being "numb" and deal with that AND the loss later.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Just a follow up..found the strength to walk into my fisrt meeting. I was shaking and so nervous but pushed myself forward. I was floored by the amount of caring compassionate people that welcomed me. I even spoke a tiny bit when they asked if I wanted to. I barely remember what I said I was so nervous lol but I am sure they understood..so glad and so proud of myself for going Thanks for the positive reinforcement!
