So happy to have found this site
I was searching the internet for help and found this site. I cant really say this is day one for me at because I finished off my beer this morning.
I am going through a bit of withdrawal but thankfully for once its not that bad. I will be honest, the only reason I did not get more to drink today is because I have no money.
I know that I will be safe tomorrow but its Friday that I am worried about.
When I come home from work that day I am going to jump right on here.
I really want to break this cycle. I did it before but it only lasted 8 months. Since early December I have been drinking daily.
Hopefully this will help me.

Welcome Penngirl44...This is a good place to be.....We're all working for the same thing...Life. I remember going into detox/rehab in the back of a cab...Drinking a couple tall boys on the way...It kicked my ass right to the end....There are ways to stop...What have you tried?

Thanks everyone! I have tried so many things over the years. I went to rehab until my insurance ran out (14 days). It was ok. It gave me a safe place to detox. From there I tried AA meetings for awhile but they didn't work for me.
I really got into exercise and nutrition and that helped so much. So, I think its time to start that again slowly ( I don't want to overdo it at first).
Thanks again for all the replies and I will be checking in tomorrow!

Pleased to meet you, Penngirl. I was drinking every day when I came here, too. I found alot of understanding and wise advice when I joined, & found the courage to stop for good.
I hope you'll keep checking in & let us know how it's going.

Welcome to SR, Penngirl.
I know what you mean; finding this site was like being lost at sea, and turning around to see a rescue ship approaching with a red-haired muppet at the helm.
Try to plan out your Friday to keep yourself occupied. For the first couple weeks, I relied heavily on a stockpile of movies and books. And I spent a ridiculous amount of time on SR, soaking up info and taking inspiration in everyone's stories.

Welcome Penngirl!
Glad you've decided to get sober!
Definitely plan to come here Friday and hang out with us....... The first weekend sober can be a real challenge, but you now have a ton of new friends who know what it's like.

I did the same thing Penngirl...It was great for detox and clearing up...But I left after two weeks on my own...I tried an AA meeting in there and knew that was where I belonged...Saved myself some money and have been living the AA program ever since...Only 8 months for me..But I'll take that. I always have to ask when I see people say it didn't work for them?...Did you get a sponsor?...Start working the 12 steps?....Trying do go to as many meetings as you could?....What part of it didn't work for you? Because like you I had tried so many different things...This was the last thing I tried...I wish I would have tried it first.
AA is cheap insurance, it costs you nothing to stay sober.
I love every sober weekend I do, and count it more importantly than days. I am aiming for 5 sober weekends this saturday and sunday
