For me, working the steps with the guidance of a sponsor allowed me to see my behavior more clearly. It was not through judgement or condemnation; only with compassion and understanding. Working the steps is an experience.

duke, why do you drink? the answer to that question eluded me for a very long time. I think that so many alcoholics and alcohol abusers focus so much energy on preventing themselves from drinking that they overlook this question.
