Reading advice for a newbie

I am new here and just getting started. I used to think that I kind of "maybe" had a problem. I started my day off today looking for some resources to modify my drinking. An afternoon on this site has led me to the realization that the things I do (never being able to stop once I start drinking, sneak drinking, hiding the amount of my drinking, pre-drinking before going out to "ease my nerves", drinking alone to "relax", etc) should qualify me as an alcoholic. I realize now that I will likely never be able to modify my drinking and need to quit all together. What I am looking for is any books that were helpful or NOT helpful to you when you decided to quit drinking.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

The best book I read about alcoholism was the AA Big Book. Free online if you want to check it out.

Reading helps, but it needs to be followed with action of some type. If we put half the effort into recovery as we do drinking.......wow!

This. You need a program of action. For me it is AA. For a good relatable read though I highly recommend Living Sober Sucks, But Living Drunk Sucks More by Mark Tuschel.
