NA Meeting

I went to my first NA meeting today and I am starting to feel a little bit better. Only time will tell what happens next for me but I do know that I will be at NA tomorrow again... Hey maybe then I can remember to say more then just my name.

Thank you both. I am glad I went too. I still dont understand why I let it get this bad but I think it was because it really made me feel like super mom. Everything was clean, breakfast, lunch and dinner was always planned out and ready. everything was just GO GO GO. Now I had to take a break even doing the darn dishes, That could be because I didnt do any of them since thursday but still. I hope I get out of this FUNK soon and it would be nice not to look out the window every 10 minutes to make sure the cops arnt coming.

Great job, scared.

By the way, I saw your question about motrin/tylenol on the other thread. I think most people feel it's fine to take over-the-counter pain relievers for your back—it's not narcotic or mood altering in any way, so it's not feeding the addiction. Personally I prefer advil and motrin for muscle pain, being anti-inflammatories they seem to help me the most...

That could be another problem. I tend to put everybody else before myself.

Life's about balance, for sure. You can't neglect yourself, especially right now. But at the same time, I think a lot of people find that by helping others, they also help themselves. I think empathy (and a sense of humor) can serve us well, both in recovery and in life.

That's so true however with me I pretend my life is perfect even to those close to me I don't show my real feelings, troubles or pain. Which is why I have taken the vicodin because I can put on that front for others and when I am on it I can take on everybody else's problems and fix them but in reality I was killing myself and creating my own problems that I haven't the slightest idea how to fix.

You can do this scared! I have been there. I too was addicted to vicodin. Now that I am clean I have the energy to get everything done that needs to be done. One amazing thing I have learned in recovery is "perfection is my enemy." I mean my home is clean and neat and picked up but the perfection I thought I had to have when I was using is gone now and I can relax and not be paranoid anymore! It is amazing to get off those pills. My life is color now cuz I am living it w/out fear......!!! You can do this and we are here for you!
