Milestone Birthday Tomorrow :)
Well, tomorrow will be my 50th birthday. And my first birthday in probably 20+ years that I will be celebrating SOBER. My "bellybutton" birthdays are important, as I ponder the fact that it is nothing short of a miracle that I have arrived here, given my past history with prescription drugs and alcohol. But my sober birthdays from here on out are going to be more meaningful, because without sobriety, I might not have had many more "bellybutton" birthdays ahead of me.
Hubby is taking me out to a Japanese steakhouse tomorrow for some Kobe beef, which I've never had. I can't wait. How wonderful to be celebrating such a milestone as a sober person ... I'll be sipping iced tea and just enjoying every moment. I'm grateful to God, to my family, to my sober friends, and to SR for getting me here.
Life can indeed begin anew ... if you are willing and able. I am looking forward to spending as many years sober as I did as a drunk. That would mean I'll live another 30 years or so.
