Feel Like I'm a Hank Williams Song

But am working on cranking up the tune. Giving into depression opens the door to drinking and that is no door I care to enter again. Didn't want to get out of bed this morning so I did. Didn't want to eat so I did. I am only my worst enemy so I won't be. Feel so much better. Sobriety does rock

Success is doing what you need to do, when you need to do it. Whether you want to or not.
Stole that from another SR.
But it's so true.
When you make yourself keep going, the momentum shifts back in your favor.
The work is worth the payoff. Chin up Fitz

Purplecatlover: "If it is important to you, you will find a way. If not, you will find an excuse".

That's a great signature tagline.

Thanks, Doc. Welcome to SR.
I love quotes. Have a whole list on my phone to give me inspiration when I need it. Most I got from here on SR.

So my dog chased his tail so hard he flung himself out of bed I laughed till I cried. Can't help being attached to the sad songs, my nature but every day I go on. I breathe i read i post whatever it takes. But for me laughter is the best

Isn't everyone? It can be so silly, but we love it anyway. It sometimes swings from humor to tears - that gets me every time.

Two things: Dogs are a daily joy - they listen when you need someone to talk to, and they cheer you up with their innocent joy of just being alive.

Sad songs: for some reason they always make me feel good.

When I saw the heading for this post, I thought of this song by Jerry Jeff Walker... I know that he had his share of mis-adventures with alcohol... "I Feel Like Hank Williams Tonight" ... Haven't though of this song for years, Thanx!

Well, I could live my whole life, without a phone call
The likes of which I got today.
It was only my wife, said “hello” then “goodbye”.
And told me she's going away.

Well I didn't cry, It was all cut and dried.
I hung up before I realized.
Turned up my stereo, I walked to the window,
Stared at the storm clouds outside.

And I play classical music when it rains,
I play country when I am in pain.
But I won't play Beethoven, the mood's just not right –
Oh, I feel like Hank Williams tonight.

There's no explanation, not even a reason,
No talk of the good times we had.
Was it me, was it her, I don't know for sure,
And that's why I'm feelling so bad.

Hey, I play jazz when I am confused,
I play country whenever I lose.
Bird's saxaphone, it just don't seem right
No, I feel like Hank Williams toight.

Lately I've been thinkin', I just might quit drinkin'.
Now I don't know all-in-all.
I just might stay home, get drunk all alone,
And punch a few holes in the wall.

But when I'm real high I play rock'n'roll,
I play country when I'm losing control.
I don't play Chuck Berry quite as much as I'd like,
Now, I feel like Hank Williams tonight.
