Update/advice needed

Hey guys,

I hope all is well.

I went to the doc yesterday, and he explained that even though I drank loads for 6/7 weeks (whiskey), its unlikely to have caused any damage. He was nice, but said no further action was needed.

However, my memory both sort and long term are quite bad and i'm still having confusion. Been sober for just over two months now, surly i should be feeling much better now? when does this memory return (if ever)?

Thanks

Two months is a great achievement. Well done. Can't comment on the medical side but on the emotional front, I am sorry you aren't feeling much better. Are you doing new things to replace the role drinking had in your life? Have you made sober friends?

With a little training your memory will be back.

From my personal experience, it's normal in the first few months to be a little "cloudy" in terms of memory. It feels weird, and you can almost think you'd be better off with a drink, but the memory comes back and thinking overall is miles sharper.

I'm at 10 months and things are starting to clear up a little.

Earlier today I remembered the random spot where I left my keys last night before going to bed -- something I would have spent 30 minutes scouring the house for a few months ago.

Stick with it, it's well worth it

It took me longer than two months to feel 'normal' again...but please do get a second opinion if you're worried
