Hey Sobie! Congrats!
Detox clears your body of the toxins of alcohol. It will not clear your mind of the obsession or the cravings. Expect them. And be strong. If you feel the urge to drink, check yourself immediately - as soon as the thought enters your mind. Call someone that has your best interests in mind and tell them how you are feeling. Or come onto this site. I was feeling really stressed earlier today. I googled 'overwhelming feeling of sadness' and I ended up here. I registered & vented my thoughts for a bit. It really helped.
You could also have post-acute withdrawal syndrome (PAWS). Do a little research so you will be prepared.
I would also recommend coming up with a relapse prevention plan. (What are you going to do to not drink) And don't go anywhere where there is alcohol for awhile. Make sure that you don't have any in the house. If you do, have someone else get rid of it for you.
Best wishes to you!! I hope this helps. And I hope it didn't scare you but I just wanted to help prepare you a little.

Paintedblack,
Thank you so much for the helpful information! Good Luck to you and let's keep encouraging each other. I go to my 1st outpatient session tomorrow - not quite sure what to expect. Thanks again.

Elisabeth888,
Yes they do have outpatient therapy, in fact tomorrow is my 1st session. Don't quite know what to expect - any thoughts? How often do you attend AA meetings?
Thanks again,
Sobie 1234

mattparadise,
No it has not been pleasant , but I'm up to day 7- Woo-hoo! It was so nice to home in my bed instead of itchy sheets! Hope you stay on track - it will be worth it
thanks again,
