Year One
Monday is one year for me, date wise anyway, but I call it sober bowl sunday. My last drinking day was the day before the super bowl, I wanted to go to work that monday without a hangover. I convinced myself I was full, Id had enough, I was quitting while I was ahead, I had avoided the whole DUI thing only because of sheer luck of course.
I dont consider myself an alcoholic but I pretty much never took a break until I stopped cold. I didnt find this forum until I was about seven months in, I was so amazed to find that everybody has the same feelings and fears when they stop. Sometimes I feel guilty when I read about the struggles of some, Ive had a relatively easy time of it so far.
What really gets to me though is when members discover the joy that comes from living a normal life without poison, especially the ones enjoying their children and being the role models their children deserve. Every child needs sober parents.
So thats it, one year in the books, I counted days, weeks and months. Im not sure if Im going to count years, I think Im done with counting, its my lifestyle now, I just dont consume alcohol anymore, and it gets easier everyday.
