Irritated
Hi all,
Today is day 6 for me, things up until now have been pretty darn easy. Today I can't help but feel irritated. Little things have been irritating me. Kink in neck is NOT fun, fiance didn't wait for me to get home before leaving to go to store, starting school tomorrow and have to get up early, filed tax return this morning which also was NOT fun, etc., etc., etc.. They all seem like pretty small things, so I don't know if it's from them, or from not drinking. I know that one of the reasons I have a problem with alcohol is from anxiety, so I don't like feeling like this. I was also motivated to do a whole lot of stuff this past week, and I'm not feeling it today. Maybe I just need a day to rest? Sorry for the rambling

While learning to stay sober a day at a time,
i also learned about following this saying,
"First Things First". By doing the next best thing.
What is it that I need to do at this moment?
What is the most important thing to do at this
moment? Take care of that one thing and you
will have accomplished one thing that day. That's
all I had to do. Even if it meant staying sober
that day or going to a meeting or going to work
or working out and so on.
If i wake up that day and dont drink then I have
accomplished the most important thing in my
life today.
Keep It Simple and Stay In Today. That's it.

Kat, I know for myself day 5-8 is going to be difficult and I expect anxiety to set in. I expect this is when I will be having cravings and need to stay clear of danger zones. At least you are aware of your feelings and you are here talking about them rather then numbing them. I just took a hot shower and lit one of my favorite candles and I feel a little better. Do something nice for yourself you deserve it.

I think it's awesome that everytime something falls on the floor, it rolls under a table and I hit my head on that same table after I pick it up. It couldn't just hit the floor and stop! Nothing is ever easy...Keep your chin up, it's just one of those days!

The "witching hour" I call it. The few hours after work before going to bed. And yes I am crawling in bed early with a book. If I fall asleep all the better. If it makes me get up at 4:00 am that is fine. I have absolutely no cravings early in the morning. Or maybe I know that going to work takes highest priority. So I do the early to bed thing and hope it is going to help.
