Amends

It's so hard because it doesn't erase the hurt caused. Like a nail in wood you can pull it out but the hole is still there. How do people deal with it? I worked on it tonight with someone close and there's so much pain and guilt and shame and we both ended so sad is that what it's about? I really don't know.

Fitz, it doesn't erase the hurt but it can start the healing.

Forgiving yourself is a process. I had to go through it again and again to make it work and even then, it isn't always easy. But, what I know, is that forgiving yourself is necessary to be able to find peace in your life.

(((Fitz))) I'm with ((Anna)) - I had to forgive myself before I could truly make some of my amends, and it took quite a while. There are still some areas where I haven't TRULY forgiven myself, but I'm making "living amends" in the process.

I can't undo what I did, but I can make damned sure I don't repeat what I did? Does that make sense? There are people/pets who are gone..I can't make amends to them. What I can do is make sure I treat the people/pets I do have the way I wish I had treated the others.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Thanks I know. I think I have the heart of a human and the mind of a drunk so I set myself up. I'm not a vey good Buddhist.

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment.

Anna hit it right on the head - I tend to think amends are not always the end of the journey - a lot of times, it's the start of another one Fitz

Fitz,

It saddens me you are going thru this. When we make amends and as Amy says living amends it does hurt. I can relate because of the pain and suffering done to self and others. It is difficult but is necessary to live right in this world. You did the right thing.

You add so much to SR. You are in my prayers. Take much care.

Peace,
rwf
