New here - need help

Hello all.

I'm new here. I need help.
I just got back from the ER because I've been drinking all weekend and wanted to make sure that I did not have any issues with withdrawl. I'm a binge drinker and drink on the weekends, but I feel that it will get more out of hand.
The ER doc said that everything is ok, and I will have the normal withdrawl symptoms and let me go home.

I live by myself and thought that I should goto the ER because I did not want to go through this myself. I finally told my family that I'm still drinking.

I would hide the fact that I drink, a sure sign of an alcoholic.
I will be going to AA tomorrow because I really need help.

Michael.

Welcome and good for you on your choice.

And good for you going to the doctor to be safe. Myself I have detoxed at home and in hospitals, it can truly not only be torture but extremely dangerous.

Just try to relax those shakes and other symtoms will pass. I use AA and wouldnt be here with out it. I hope you enjoy your meeting and keep going.

Lets us know how it goes.

Good love, Inda

I know exactly what your going through. I would drink alone all the time, then have to hole up in private to withdraw. Its a miserable experience. I couldn't sit still, but I couldn't go out in public either. I would just read this forum to realize that there were a thousand other people out there going through the same thing. Hang in there

(((Michael))) - Welcome to SR!! I'm glad you went to the ER. However, please don't hesitate to go BACK if you need to.

You've come to a great place, we're like one really big family, so welcome to the family

Hugs and prayers,

Welcome to SR. We wish you safe detox. As already mentioned by other SR friends, withdrawals can be risky. Pl do not hesitate to seek medical help ,if things remain bad or get worse.

Good plan Michael. Don't hold yourself back from going until you feel/look good.

Thanks for all the kind words

One question. My poop is very dark and mucusy. I've gone to the bathroom all night. Also trying to get in as much water as possible

It's normal. Alcohol disrupts the lining of your stomah pH levels.

Hang in there Michael.

Make sure you drink plenty of water, try to eat nutritous food, maybe take a multivitamin. Doctors will sometimes prescribe meds to help ease withdrawals. If it gets too bad you may want to go see your doc.

Just grit your teeth and get through. We know exactly what you are going thru. It will get better.

God bless.

Hi Michael,

Welcome to SR. It sounds like you are doing the right things. I hope your withdrawals are over soon, and I hope you can get to sleep tonight. Let us know tomorrow, okay? You're almost through day 2!

Welcome. My pattern is/was mostly what I would describe as "escalating binge". On day 2 myself. Hope all goes well for you. I've been a little edgy/emotionally raw/ shaky with some stomach/side pains, but nothing too bad. Let me know how you're feeling and we can compare notes.
