Hi Kelly,

Welcome to SR!

Well you have been sober longer then me. I'm on day three. My whole goal is to stay sober today. I will deal with tomorrow when it comes. I found that if i think of my whole life without booze I start to panic. I'm hoping the 1 day at a time technique works for me. Good luck and I hope to see you around here.

cleankelly 01-18-2012 01:28 PM

thank you guys for getting back to me so quickly do you think any of you guys could have a chat with me via this post and just connect with one another

Welcome cleankelly. Great job on your sober time! We know how hard you worked to get there.

After I found SR I gathered up the strength to quit after a lifetime of drinking. There was so much encouragement and hope here, from people who really understood the road I'd traveled. I hope you'll feel the same way. Congratulations on your new life.

Welcome Kelly,

Two meetings a week should be OK if you supplement your program with other stuff. After all, the first AA folks didn't have many meetings available too them. You can talk to the people you meet in AA everyday if you want, even if there isn't a meeting. This website is also a good place to hang out. You do have a copy of the Big Book right?

Hi cleankelly

Welcome to SR. You will find a lot of support here.

There are also two meetings a week here on SR in the chat room

Wednesday 5pm EST and Friday 9pm EST
You may find them to be an extra support.

PM me anytime :)

hi, nice to meet you cleankelly!

AnodyneShift 01-18-2012 03:10 PM

Welcome, mewcomer!

Heartfelt congratulations on 14 days! Mew will find a slew of great people here, all willing to help a mew friend.

I used to come to this site, posting occasionally and looking for *online meetings*.
For me, I've found it's best to go to meetings and to think of this place as a giant perpetual meeting in process.

Welcome to mewfound freedom! I hope you stick around this little community :)

Mew,

Dave

Hey Kelly,
I'm from Ireland.Just found this place myself yesterday. I'm back in AA after a slip at Christmas. I'm going to lots of meetings in Limerick and soberrecovery has helped me a lot the last couple of days in particular. Some of the posts on here offer great experience, strength and hope.
One day at a time is the slogan I'm sticking with. Do my best on a daily basis, that's all I've got, the here and now. Can't change the past and I certainly can't live in the future.
Best of luck Kelly,
Dill

Sorry for the mews- couldn't help myself :-)

The fact that you can say "I am an alcoholic/addict" is so huge. While I am not an alcoholic/addict, I have two children that are and have been exposed to it my whole life. I applaud you for taking ownership. The hallmark of alcoholism is denial and you have made the most difficult step by admitting your disease. You are on your way...
