Welcome, Tony!

You're doing just fine on the message board.

Just take a look around and make yourself at home. :)

(((Tony))) - Welcome to SR! This was the first forum I'd ever been a part of and pretty much wandered around the different forums. Don't want to admit how long it took me to find the "new posts" button on the blue bar above, but it was a while:)

Basically, you can post in any forum except men only in men's, women only in women's. The "stickies" are permanent posts at the top of most forums - really good information in those.

You're doing just fine - welcome to the family!

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

Welcome Tony :)

the best way is to just jump right in - if you have any specific questions - ask :)

Tony - We are so glad you've joined the family. This is a wonderful place, and you did great with your post. As Dee said, just plunge right in and share your thoughts.

Welcome!

A thread is just basically a topic, to which people can respond with replies. Your post here is the original post of this thread and we are all replying to you. You can click on threads on the main part of the forum and reply to other's threads as well, should you find you have something you wish to say.

After you've submitted a certain number of posts (5 i think) you gain the ability to PM (private message) other forum members, which is analogous to email -- only they will be able to see and repsond to those messages.

That's about it! Check out some more info here:

I'm glad you found us!

Hi Tony...welcome to SR.

One of the things that I found powerful for me was starting my own thread to just sort of tell me story. You may not be like me, but I always kept my drinking problem very private and was highly functional when it came to family and work. While I'm sure there were some in my life that thought I drank too much I don't think anyone knew how bad it had gotten for me.

The simple act of typing out those thoughts that I'd been harboring about myself for all those years was extremely cathartic and powerful for me. For me it was simply admitting that I could no longer control my intake of alcohol and that I was afraid of where my life was headed if I didn't find a way to make a change.

Or...you can just do some reading...that's always good too!:herewego

Welcome Tony, have family in Trenton.

Are you attending AA in your area?

Thank you, I just now found this reply to me. You are very helpful.

Tonyfalco 01-21-2012 12:40 PM

No. I did attend some NA mettings. I really look at this website as form of meetings?

Welcome Tony! Glad you are here. This place has helped me alot with my recovery. Keep posting. We do recover.:)

Dee74 01-21-2012 01:05 PM

good to see you again Tony.

Lots of people find SR is enough - lots of others don't.

If you find you need more than this community to stay sober, you'll get a lot of ideas and suggestions about what to do next :)

Hi Tony,
Welcome to the forum. I have found this website and AA invaluable in staying sober without support and a program I know I would not have been able to stay sober.
Keep close and keep posting.

Welcome Tony!

Looks like you're doing fine with posting! I'm glad you're here - are you wanting to get sober? It can be scary at first, but things really will get better as you go along.

The support here really helped me turn my life around. Keep reading and posting!:c031:
