Prescribed cream that contains alcohol

Hi,

Yesterday I saw my Dr for a gynae problem and she prescribed cream to be applied. When I checked the ingredients, it contains alcohol. Should I be asking for an alternative?

The mouthwash I use is alcohol free and I try and ensure that food is too when I eat out....

The Dr's know I'm in recovery

Alcohol has a lot of legitimate industrial uses - as I understand it, a lot of creams lotions etc can have alcohol as an ingredient in minute quantities, to keep them from 'clogging up' for example....

I think it would be impossible to get a 'buzz' from external use, but I'm cautious too, and I know the mind games we can play with ourselves, so I understand your concerns.

I'd think you can ask for a non alcohol alternative if it's important to you, ttbp

I agree with Dee that I don't think it would be a problem.

But, you could talk to your dr about it if you think there might be another option.

I would think it would not be a problem unless you are going to eat it

As I take Antabuse, I even can't have alcohol on my skin, as it gives an allergic reaction But if there no alternatives, it's best to take it.
