Very sorry to hear about your daughter, I hope she gets well very soon.

I can relate, very well, to your situation. My oldest daughter (22) is in a hospital in the boonies in Texas right now. Has been for 3-1/2 weeks now. She's been in and out several times over the last 3 mos. apparently because of some problem(s) with her immune system that the many doctors can't figure out. Yes, she was tested for AIDS. Fortunately, that's not it.

While I speak with her several times a day; I'm dying to go see her. I can't, because alcohol has taken virtually all my money away. In fact, alcohol is a large part of why she's in Texas in the first place.

On a postive note, I'm on day 26, this time around.

For you newcomers: DON'T LET THIS KIND OF SH*T HAPPEN TO YOU!

STOP ABUSING SUBSTANCES. Do what you need to do to achieve this. Believe me, the sooner the better. Coming here is a great start. Go to local meetings and keep coming back. This disease will eventually take EVERYTHING from you if you let it. It will not stop trying. YOU MUST STOP IT!

Boooooom ! One year sober in about 4 hours

Hard to believe its been a frigging year since I walked that horrid cold dark walk back from the hospital.

What was all the fuss about eh ?

Fighting cravings that's what it comes down to, physical addiction is blah apart from a few days.

The only thing I can honestly say is do not be scared of being bored, ride out these feelings and EMBRACE the cravings head on then go to war with them.

Sobriety gets better the further you go.

Stay sober peeps...Target Two years is now fully operational.

What an amazing thread! So glad that I got to read this today - my kids are temporarily in someone else's custody because of mine and my husband's drinking, and that day will be the last day that I ever poison myself again with 'alcohell'! Thank you for your inspirational post!
