Fun things you'll do this weekend without alcohol or drugs

wake up before 9am, feeling refreshed
play xbox
play disc golf
go to a meeting
have a great meal with friends in a good restaurant
take a walk
read
clean my condo and feel good about having an organized, clean living space
get coffee with friends
buy groceries and cook a gourmet meal
watch a good movie

What i used to do:
drink
drug
pass out
sleep past noon
feel like crap
go get alcohol
go get drugs
drink, drug, maybe eat, pass out, sleep past noon
go get alcohol, go get drugs
maybe eat, drink, drug, pass out, call in sick or show up late.

Wash my car,
Workout,
Yoga,
wake up before 9 as well and know what day and time it is,
read a good book or watch a good movie and remember it,
touch base with family and enjoy talking to them instead of it feeling like a chore,
cook real food and take care of myself.

What I used to do:
Well you nailed it, except I wasn't into the drug scene (what a horrible weekend!)

I can't believe that is what I worked so hard for all week to do!!

-Awesome post, thanks!

^^^This! I'll be using the three-day weekend to do much the same, cutting loose a lot of "stuff" that's been weighing me down in the process.

Too cold and too much road salt to ride the motorcycle. Probably go out to breakfast then hit the gym later. Saturday night I might try a late AA "candlelight" meeting when I would usually be getting ready to hit the local bars.

I am dedicating this weekend to sport - cycling, cricket and football.

This time last year it would have been a weekend of beer, cocaine and no sleep

i'm just going to 'hang out' with the dogs and stay warm and dry. but it goes without saying, to me, anyway, that whatever i do sober it'll be more fun and done better.

Got something in my eye and went to the ophthalmologist yesterday and will have to stay close to home for a few days. I will still walk the dogs in this cooler sunny weather anyway before the rain moves back in. I schedule all my appointments in the afternoons now, where before in the early morning have a couple in coffee before I went, so I could come home and drink without waiting too long. Even having an abrasion on my eye is better sober. I remember when to put in the drops. It is the little things I do normally like that which I find most gratifying when I catch myself. Oh and I didn't realize it was a three day weekend. Being re-tired every day is the weekend.

Great topic!

This doesn't really sound fun to most people, but I'm looking forward to doing a lot of studying for my cfa exam (for work). The weather should be decent so probably going for a few jogs as study breaks.

Before: Go to the grocery store for stoli, drink whole bottle, black out, pass out, repeat 2-3 times.

Relapse prevention class in the morning
small get together with girlfriends from AA at my house tomorrow afternoon
AA meetings
Sunday hopefully going hiking during the day and then watching a movie that night
shopping at the outlet mall on Monday
Oh yeah- study! Something I would and could not do if I was drunk as a skunk. I would not even be in school if I were drinking.
