Fun things you'll do this weekend without alcohol or drugs
Sorry, I'm nearly a day ahead of most of you in the US. Saturday is nearly over
I ate breakfast and it stayed down!
I worked and enjoyed it, cooked a lovely dinner for my wife and my little boy. Cleaned up the carpet after my boy threw the aforementioned dinner everywhere. Had a nice hot bath and read a bedtime story.
before: All of the above, but counting down the minutes for beer and not enjoying it, oh, and throwing up breakfast if I was dumb enough to attempt it.

I'm going to hang out with a bunch of alcoholics....That don't drink.... BBQ...Watch football...And drive home without worrying about getting pulled over. It doesn't get much better than that.
AugustWest,
Thank you so much for saying "alcohol or drugs" in the thread title. While I don't let the fact that most threads here pertain to alcohol addiction keep me from reading, learning and participating, it does feel good to be "included" in a obvious way.
Sometimes I feel like I have to not mention that alcohol isn't my main bugaboo or I won't be taken seriously. My own insecurity I know, and I push past it, but it's still nice that sometimes people include us druggies.

in other circles I would just say drugs, because alcohol is a drug. I was indiscriminate about the substances I poured into my body. morning, day, and night it was always something and I always wanted more.

Well my plans to study were a little sidetracked this afternoon - my parents wanted to have lunch and catch up. I took them out for sushi downtown. It was great that I was not drunk, not dry heaving/shaking, and able to take care of the whole bill. (Note: raw fish and a hangover don't mix - I've tried it before in my drinking days, and it resulted in the most expensive puke session.)
Great thread!! This weekend I slept in both days (guess I was extra-tired after my trip) and am spending pretty much every single minute with my husband b/c I missed him after that time away. Yesterday we did some shopping, watched football, and went to an MMA fight. I realized after we got home that I didn't even think about drinking at the fight, most people were drinking and they even had wine there but it just did not cross my mind in the "wish I could have one of those" sort of way it usually does if I'm out. Really awesome!!
Today woke up to a light dusting of snow (what a treat!!) off to a meeting, some home chores this afternoon with hubby and then a second-run showing of Breaking Dawn. All of which I'll remember, man I love sobriety!!

Went to church, then to brunch with the family.
Later I probably will lay on the couch or in bed with a good book. Life is good and thankful I'm sober.
Where before when I was drinking I would give thanks that the car and I made it home safely, while dealing with a huge hangover and trying to fill in the memories of the night before.

when i first got sober keeping busy was a big deal, especially on the weekends. i hardly sat down for my first 90 days or so. now i love the fact that i can either be busy or just simply sit on my couch and enjoy a ballgame without that nagging feeling that something wasn't right because i'm not drinking or getting high. what a blessing!
It's going to be in the 70's this weekend, which isn't normal for north carolina this time of year. I'm going to play a few rounds of disc golf and wash my truck! Also, watch my tar heels play.
