6 days and counting

Hello Folks!! Thought I'd relate my feelings on giving up on the booze after 35 damned years of drinking. It's about time!! I feel like I have more time, am more mentally calm and sharp and really feel I can make this a permanent banishment from "Drunkillvania". I am hoping the lack of physical cravings are a good sign for the future and know that I will be battling the mental part of it but battle them I plan to do.
All your stories are very inspirational to me, many of your stories are my story. Hopefully, with this site's help, my story will be one of success in killing this demon for good. Thanks

Hi there obxtacy (Love the Outer Banks :) ).

You sound very positive and determined. Great news that you have 6 days after 35 yrs. of drinking! I know you'll feel better each day - a whole new life for you. I drank almost as long, and in the end it was a living hell. Never again will we go back to that dangerous place.

Welcome.

Thirty-five years. That's about how long I drank...daily, before deciding to quit. I've racked up 16 months sober time. My only regret: waiting so long. But I've quit, and better late than never. Every day is a blessing without the shackles of drink.

SR was my lifeline. I hope it helps you as much as it helped me.
