Anyone Quit ADs?

I don't know if it's right to ask this here, but has anyone quit ADs?

I quit Celexa cold turkey this week. It has destroyed my libido over the last few months. I'm tired of crutches that have awful side effects.

Today, after 3 days, I am stricken with vertigo.

No, I didn't ask the doctor. Yes, I was wrong to not ask.

Sorry if I am out of line here.

This might get more of a response in the mental health forum. I will say this, without trying to give medical advice. If you want to quit, talk to your doctor.
Do not CT the meds on your own.

With AD, it is really best to wean yourself off of them. I've had to w/ Paxil a couple of times because I was pregnant. You really aren't supposed to abruptly stop these meds. I might try another AD after talking to your dr. I also had a bad experience with Celexa. It made me super depressed when I had to wean myself off... If you want to try not using medication, maybe talking to a psychologist could help you over time...?? Good luck!

not sure what you're looking for here FDM? but I have no experience to share anyway

I do recommend that noone discontinues medication without professional medical advice first, yeah.

I found out the hard way that I am not a very good Dr. or a very good patient.

Please go see your Dr.

Yes ... Stopping celexa suddenly will cause vertigo ... Whether it is the cause of yours, I don't know and cannot say. So, give your doc a call.

If it is the cause of vertigo, the vertigo will go away in a few days.

I was on Effexor for about a month or two back when I was still drinking. I had the same side-effect and I too was not willing to life with it nor was I willing to submit the rest of my life to various drug companies. I did call my doc and he said it would be ok, given the drug and the dose I was on, to stop. He also suggested I call back if I experienced any side effects from stopping but they never did pop up.

Be forewarned though, everything I've read and heard about antidepressant withdrawal is that it's ESPECIALLY nasty.....VERY serious stuff. More serious, in many instances, than drug or alcohol withdrawal. Don'e let your arrogance get the better of you.....call your doc.

I'll call Monday. Thanks for the reply. It has to be the cause. I knew it would be tough, but I'm stubborn, and I miss the hanky panky ;-)
