30 Days today and Happy New Year
I'm 30 days sober today and looking forward to a sober New Year.
When I first got here, I was sick, and shaking, even on benzos, and couldn't sleep. Now, I'm little bit tired, but my hands are rock steady, I'm sleeping all night, and am back to working out.
I'm still dealing with the fallout of my last binge - I really caused a lot of trouble for myself - but I've realized something: all a drinker has to do to transform their life is to stop drinking; a lot of "normal" people are just plain stuck with being who they are. So I have some compassion for my tormentors, not only because I asked for it, but also because there's not much they can do to change, whereas I was able to change myself and my life instantly by the simple expedient of putting down the bottle.
Thanks to everyone who posts here, and to those who run the site, and to financial generosity of whomever made the site possible.
And best wishes for a sober New Year for everyone who desires it!

Welcome Riel! This is a great place to find lots of support and love. I know for me just putting the bottle and drugs down was not enough. I had to find something to replace all of that junk with. I could stop the addictive behavior for awhile, but I would be miserable and would eventually start drinking or using again. I had to have a face to face support group to talk and share with people who are just like me and understand where I'm coming from. AA is where I found that. It might be worth checking out.
Wishing you the best in 2012.
God bless.
