Any unique new year resolutions?
Since I quit drinking only 3 weeks ago, I have slept a lot and laid in bed reading. One of my goals is to get fresh air every day ... Even though it is getting cold out.
And start a gratitude journal. At the end of the day I need to put in 5 things I was grateful for. I did this a few years back when I was depressed and it helped me look for positives throughout the day since I knew I had to list 5 things. It changed my way of looking at my day to day.

My goal is to start going hiking at the weekends with friends and to start going on day trips instead of the pub at night.
The things I am grateful for...
1. Having eyesight
2. Being able to walk
3. My cats
4. My friends (the sober ones especially)
5. My BF who supports me through everything

Each weekend, there's a Farmers Market held near my house. To reward my ongoing sobriety, I'm going to try a new fruit, vegetable, or cheese from there each month. I'm usually so cheap that I stick to my tried and true basics, but who says one of my resolutions can't be an indulgence?
Of course, my primary goal this year is to remain sober.

Not really unique to most, but I have become a bit of a hoarder, so...
Organize, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Discard
(started recycling plastic and glass waste last year when I started to quit the drink and actually get some enjoyment from it.)

I haven't decided what my goal is going to be for the year.
But I wrote this on my FB page and it sums it up for me and my New Year.
"With the new year approaching I have tried listening to my heart to change or enhance areas of my life that are lacking substance. I don't believe in resolutions -but believe that everyday you can make one difference in your life. One small difference, one thought, one act of kindness...that is all that's needed to succeed. According to my gratitude list, 2011 was a blessed year. This year I will continue to challenge myself, moving ahead, add an unpredictable element to my life and take more chances with my gut feeling. This is gonna be an awesome year. Wishing you all peace in your hearts."
The best resolution is to focus on little things that make a big difference.
Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.
