Stumbled upon this site..nothing ventured nothing gained?
Single mom...addiction to Narcotics, on/off for 5yrs now. Began in serious after operations i had that had me popping high doses of painkillers...which led to a slow spiral...to where? To a life lived on the outside looking in...Been to rehab once..that sober time lasted months..i have gotten off the heavy heavy ****, at least daily...yet here i am popping tylonol 1's like a madwoman (20-25pills a day for 2yrs straight now with intermittent uses of heavier narcotics)...its like i am on autopilot...

Welcome to a wonderful place, Ociana. I have a dear friend addicted to painkillers for 10 yrs. She has 2 duis, & is foggy most of the time. She won't acknowledge her problem the way you are, though. Be proud of yourself for seeing that a change must be made.

Ah well...brave..i don't know about that..just so sick of having this control me...and i know how much damage i am doing to my body...but mostly...mostly its because i want to be here for my daughter...not dying from liver failure because i was too weak to step away from this...i love myself...i think...but i know i love my daughter more.
Welcome Ociana
You'll find a lot of support here.
Have you thought about seeing a Dr? It might be a good first step?
not only can they give you professional advice about tapering down from the codeine, but they can check you out and make sure you're ok - tylenol can be pretty hard on the liver, because of the acetaminophen.
Best to set your mind at ease
Glad you've joined us

(((Ociana))) - Welcome to SR!! I agree with ((Dee)) - seeing a doctor and being honest is always a good start. My dr. knows all about my addiction and is awesome.
Though crack was my DOC (drug of choice), before that I really abused opiates. I, too, still have to remind myself, when taking ibuprofen or something OTC, that "if one is good, 4 is better!" mentality just doesn't do me any good.
Hugs and prayers,
Amy

Thank you...i hope to finally stick with something that may help..meaning this site..its quite vast..just trying to roam around seems like a lot..lol..and yes agreed with the doctor idea..he is going to kick my ass...i am going to do this..recover...without involving my family..i have dragged them through my hell before..not again..so i turned here i suppose for support..support that is completely unbiased..i like that idea.
Welcome, Ociana!
Congratulations on making a great decision - I stopped drinking after coming here and I know you'll find just as much support and inspiration as I did.
I think your doctor would be very proud of you for being honest and willing to get help. They probably see a lot of people trying to get drugs - not so many wanting to get clean.....
By the way, here's a link to the Substance Abuse section, if you haven't already checked it out:

Glad you're here!
