Dumping Day

Just sent off the family to the other side of the country. I'm at home, all alone, with about 3 bottles of wine sitting in the kitchen leftover from Christmas. What would that mean to the alcoholic? Drink up!

NOT ME though, I am having a 'dumping day', and have just started pouring out those three bottles. I don't need anything to break my sobriety on the 14th day today, while family is out of town for the next month.

Thanks for listening, everyone else out there, stay strong! Keep on keeping on.

Dump, dump, dump, - pour, pour, pour - recycle and GOOD FOR YOU!!

How empowered do you feel right now? You took charge of your own destiny.

WOOHOO Socaldude! That's great! I poured out some triple sec last night because hubby can't really use that in his coffee and I don't want it around. We still have a bit of kahlua, butterscotch schnapps, some homemade cherry kirsch and peach schnapps but all of those are WAY TOO SWEET for me. They make me gag if I use them to drink. And also hubby is using up the butterscotch and kahlua in his coffee now so when he leaves next month for a 3 month school they'll be out of the house.
We also still have homemade mead but now I use that in lieu of wine when cooking. We've given away one large bottle of the mead so far.
Luckily enough, my weakness is cheap wine (think yellowtail, gallo, etc) and vodka, gin or sometimes grand marnier. All of which are out of the house!!!! I'd be an idiot to keep that in the house!

I feel ya munchkin, I was a two buck chuck wine drinker too.. Don't get me wrong, I used to like expensive wines too, but for 'drinking' -- cheap was the way to go.

Be careful with that mead, it can be sooo easy to start with a drink..

Happy Dumping Day, everyone! There's nothing quite like pouring booze down the sink In fact, I suggest that anyone here who hasn't had that particular pleasure try it right now!! Even a little will do. You don't have to give up your whole bottle, just try a little... and a little more.

socaldude,
Actually this was hubby and I's very first time trying to make mead and it turned out rather uhhhh, not so good. Tastes like cooking wine or sherry.
Makes great cooking wine. Not so great drinking wine. LOL
Hence the reason why it's still in the house. We did our final rack off about a month and a half ago and I never wanted to touch it after the first sip. LOL

Okay! I joined the dumping day! The homemade peach schnapps and cherry kirsch is GONE!!! Down the drain, baby!!!!
Now to get rid of the expensive bottles of wine. One bottle will be gone this weekend with a chicken in a tagine, and then chicken broth made the very next day. 4 bottles of the expensive stuff to go. (which may or may not be shipped off to my Dad)

We had been given a very expensive bottle of wine for Christmas.. I hate to admit it, but I regifted it.. I hate to see it get dumped down the drain. Someone else will enjoy it. Congrats Munchkin! It's actually quite satisfying to me.. nice to be in a 'dry' house..

socaldude,
Yeah, I was just telling Dee that there was no way I could pour my really nice wines down the sink. These were bought at a winery down in virginia that we visit every year. We know the staff, we know the history of the vineyard and winery, we know about the family that owns the winery and all. We're just going to give our bottles of wine to a friend and his wife that just bought their own home (she's got alcohol problems like most seem to do in this area, oddly enough). Two bottles will go to my Mom and Dad, which I just hope my Dad keeps them away from my Mom (like that is really likely), the rest will go to hubby's other coworkers. One or two of them like wine.
