Hi everyone, I'm not an addict myself but the man I'm in love with is and I am here hoping to just talk to somebody which can relate to my situation. He's actually a week away from going into treatment and needless to say things have gotten a little more complicated. I just want to regain control over my life and learn how to be helpful and supportive to him as well. Any advice anyone can offer is so very much needed and welcomed, thank you

(((Krystal))) - Welcome to SR, though I'm sorry for what has brought you here. I'm both a recovering addict and a recovering codependent who has/had loved ones who are addicts. When I first got here, I read through a lot of posts, as I was pretty clueless about how to deal with the addicts in my life.
The Newcomer's forum is great, but we also have friends&Family forums that you might want to check out:

There may not be many people on at this time of the night, but I'm sure you will get a lot of ES&H (experience, strength and hope) from others who know what you're going through.
