Hi everyone! I'm new!
I'm Cupcakes and today I decided to quit abusing prescription drugs after three years. I went to my psych and he gave me some meds to ease the withdrawal symptoms and Tuesday I'm starting Suboxone.
This is a huge step/decision for me in my life and I've already had a few meltdowns today but I'm trying to stay strong. I want my life back. I want to be the person I was before I started pilling.
If anyone would like to talk with me, please feel free. I know this is going to be an uphill battle and I don't have any friends and very little family that I can lean on for support.
Good luck to all of you!

Hey, Pink. Glad you decided to make it here. I found SR to be a life safer for me, and don't think I could have beaten my battle with benzos and booze without SR in the first few months of recovery.
Do share your story, do read posts here, and do reach out for support. It concerns me that you say you have no friends or family you can reach out to. After withdrawals, I found I needed face-to-face support. While they're are many roads to recovery, I found I needed AA and NA to maintain sanity, let alone sobriety.
Thanks for posting.

Hi Cupcakes,
Great job on the decision to quit taking pills. I wish you the best of luck as each day passes. It's not fun but look for the improvement everyday.
I'm on Day 1 and it's been tough and I just want to sleep but I'm making myself function. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I'll feel better mentally but physically I know I'll hurt (done this many times before).
It feels so good to be sober and I'm hoping to get more understanding of that beast that tells me that I can handle a few pills-I need to understand that I am powerless-I have no restraint. It's easy for me to not drink alcohol-never liked it but pain pills are a different story. The consequences don't matter to me either-I wish they did. I have a wonderful fiance, a chance at a very peaceful, fulfilling life and I'm blowing it, big time.
Keep posting, I'll try to do the same.

Hello Cupcakes - welcome to your new life. I have a friend who has been abusing pain pills for about 10 yrs. She is almost incoherent sometimes when I talk to her. Has a couple of dui's too. She won't discuss, though.
Be proud of yourself for wanting to get your life back. You'll find many people to relate to here on SR - it's a wonderful place that performs miracles, in my opinion.

Welcome Cupcakes,
Apart from this forum which is a great resource for overcoming addiction what else will you do? I use AA and this forum and have managed to stay sober for more than 6 months. You definitely have my support.
Merry Christmas
