4 Months Today!
 

I can't thank SR enough for helping make it possible for me to say today I am 4 months sober. The help, support and encouragement from my friends on SR has been immeasurable. I especially thank the Classes of March 2011 and August 2011. And, to Dee74, the Sage of Sobriety. (Not that you are old, my friend)

This long overdue journey began with a single day, and has had more than it's share of foggy, muddy days. But the sunny, lucid days have been phenominal and have made it all worthwhile.

For those of us who have been mucking through the cobwebs of years or decades of drinking and related behaviours, I say Muck On! It's worth it.

Thus far, just a few of the benefits have been:

Restored family relationships
Renewing friendships
Increasing self-respect and esteem
Realistic viewpoint of life, vs. grandiose and arrogant
Acceptance/tolerance of others
Most of all, a rejuvenated relationship with God

This journey is long from over. In fact, it's just begun.

For those who are in their first weeks of sobriety. DON'T QUIT. Each day brings new perspective. They are not always easy to bear, but they are worth it. KEEP YOUR EYE ON THE PRIZE!

Wow, that's awesome, 4 months! You're in control at this point, obviously. Nice list of benefits also. You're making the most out of life at this point it sounds.

Lofty, So happy for you at 4 months! Thanks for sharing and I can really relate to your rejuvenated relationship with God. The drink becomes such a barrier to our spiritual lives.

Pull up a mental picture of yourself 5 months ago, and compare it to the person you are now. I bet it is mind blowing!
