Day 9!

So today is officially the longest I have been sober in 5 years. Feeling great. Still some up and down on withdrawals but overall never felt better. I just feel so positive right now about things. I realize there are ups and downs and its not all sunshine and butterflies but I have been enjoying what feels like a new lease on life. Thank you all for helping me with your posts and by reading mine. The community support when I'm hurting is great!

Yay ddrayer!!! That is awesome. My hardest day (and many others) was in the second week of my sobriety. I was very irritable and not nice to be around, (I say that very nicely, lol.) You are doing great. Congrats to you and keep posting. :)

That's really good news!

EDHARLEY 12-05-2011 07:44 AM

That is great

Look forward to getting there as well

bozboz 12-05-2011 07:48 AM

You can do it Ed!!! :)

ddrayer 12-05-2011 07:58 AM

Hey Ed thanks! You can get there too. I've actually started thinking of it as a game as opposed to an overwhelming task. using tools from a variety of programs has helped as well. All the best to you!

Great job - keep it up.

Thank you all! Just one day at a time seems to just keep adding up. I know it sounds ridiculous but I cannot believe I've made it 9 days. I though I was destined for an early grave from this, and it feels good to know I can change my situation. "God grant me the..courage to change the things I can."

Congrats, ddrayer, my sobriety date buddy! Day 9 went well here, too. Not fighting off a hangover or anxiety at work on a Monday for the first time in months and also my longest sobriety streak in over 5 years! Ran 3 miles on the treadmill (cruel Nebraska winters) after work and now ready to watch some tv and chill out for the rest of the night. Keep up the great work! Thanks for the support - I love reading your posts.

This is wonderful to hear! It'll just keep getting better, & you'll have a whole new life. Very proud of you. :)

Awesome job! Glad you are doing well :)

Talltrees 12-05-2011 06:22 PM

ddrayer, that's wonderful. There are several people in my family that I wish would do what you're doing, and it makes me feel so proud and gives me some hope to hear from people like you who take their recovery so seriously. Congratulations. Wish I could say something helpful, but "thank you" is all I've got :-)
