I was very nervous to see my doctor about my drinking problem, but I finally went. 6 months ago I had a complete phyiscal and every thing so far looked good. Liver enzmyes are a little high though but she put me on liburium. Noticed drug worked ok but still have cravings, is this drug to prevent cravings or just to control anxity which i have?

At least you admit you have a drinking problem. I joined this site today too. Welcome. All I know about librium is that is what they gave me when I detoxed about five months ago...It knocked me out for five days...But it was better than dying. I can't really tell you what it does..I don't remember. But I know I haven't had a drink since then.

You could always contact your dr and ask her for her reason for prescribing the drug.

I'm glad that you got checked out and that you're ready to live a sober life.

googled it "Chlordiazepoxide is used to relieve anxiety and to control agitation caused by alcohol withdrawal"

I think it's always best to ask your Dr their personal reason for prescribing any particular drug Dane.

It's better than us guessing - which is all we can do - and we can't give you any substantial medical advice here anyway by our rules
