Dealing with loss
Hi all,
So life has kinda gone nuts. I was doing so so well with recovery but then my ex for over four years died. I have been seeing someone new at the time but it still hits me hard. I'm still waiting for answers on cause of death but it may have been a suicide, or drug overdose is my guess. I don't know how to handle it all. My new guy doesn't quite get it so in turn I drank to numb the pain. I just am not grieving well...the way my ex would want me to i guess.

Sober or drunk, life is going to happen. We have to make a choice on how we live it, good or bad. I am sorry for your loss, and don't have much to give in the way of comfort other than condolences. Like every other aspect of getting sober, it is something we just have to walk through, one step at a time, face the emotions instead of drinking them down. I hope you can find your way, and find it in sobriety.

Hi Chris
I'm sorry to see you're still grieving and still drinking.
Like I said last time - allow yourself to grieve and deal with the loss Chris- drinking just numbs us out, we deal with nothing and we put a hold on the grieving process.
Did you follow up about some grief counselling?

Chris, do try to get some counselling or join a Grief support group at a hospital. There are also some excellent books on how to move through the grief process.
I hope you feel better.
