159 Days! 43% of an entire year. Close to $1750 in money saved! Havent drank or smoked. Feel very clear headed and alert- lots more energy. Same ol problems every day--except one (alcohol). Not attending AA meetings but I visit with a Social Worker weekly.

For all those that are posting now that just decided to quit just read my thread. Its hard, but you can do it. I have been tempted many times (Miami trip, trip to weekend cabin where I used to drink a case a day, NBA games) but I didnt give in- and will not.

I will Never drink again! Good luck all

191 Days 52% of a year! No Alcohol, no cigs, no recent "strong" desires. I always would like to drink, but I havent even thought about caving in (not since the 130 day mark).

Getting much easier. First Memorial Day without drinking and I am looking forward to it if you can believe that. I sometimes get resentful that I cannot drink, but I usually get over it. I have been back to attending AA meetings.

Quite frankly the "going it alone" approach was getting too difficult. I think it was a prideful thing saying I can do it myself...and I probably can, but I was miserable on my own.

Going good, saving cash--at least $2,000, and starting to learn to live sober.

Take care all!
Darren

I did this once myself....It was the most miserable 10 months of my life. If you haven't gotten a sponsor and worked the steps yet...I'd put it real high on your list of things to do. Congrats on 191 days!....That's fantastic.

We are having a bon fire and BBQ. Yeah, it will be 90 degrees with a ton of humidity, but we are burning stuff, how cool is that?? Sober is still the New Fun!

Congrats on your sober time!!

258 Sober, Nicotine Free days! Just returned from a 7 day cruise to the Southern Caribbean. Did not drink, smoke, or gamble lol. I saved at least $1000...perhaps more.

Savings to date: $2400 plus $1000 for not drinking on the cruise= $3,400!

I do not obsess over alcohol, and I didnt desire it on the cruise ship. This is quite a change for me- If you read back in my posts I have had some pretty intense cravings.

Working the AA program...on step 8.

Good luck all!

awesome. i read the entire journal....what a road, bumps and all! happy to know you are doing well. i almost have to laugh when i hear people complain about the cost of things and how they dont have money for this or that but always, without fail, have money for booze....me included, until 2.5 years ago, when i bought my last case of beer. so this is how normal people live...lol! God bless ya Darren

Well done on your amazing achievements my friend.

It prompted me to do some maths too!

173 days without booze = 1036.27 GBP
4 years (almost) without smoking = 8760.00 GBP
5 years without a coffee = not sure but no more tummy ache from too much sweetner!!

Wow is all I can say.
I like counting days and cash too.

Thanks for your share

11 Months! The urge/obsession is still nowhere to be found. I just dont miss it one bit. Thank God. My wife is out of town this weekend. Normally I would be drinking, smoking and gambling...instead I am home just watching television. Feels really, really good to be free of the poison that alcohol is.

Good luck to all!

Well I made it to one year (367 days to be exact)- no alcohol or tobacco. Everything is going very well. Its not a problem being at events where alcohol is served-was at an event the other night where the drinks were free- and I stuck to diet coke. Drove home sober- Year ago was a different story. No telling how much money I have saved- probably over $5,000. Feels good to not have the desire- I know what will happen if I drink, and I cant take that risk- its not worth it. I still go to AA once per week, read about addiction, and really focus on the 12 steps- its changed my life for sure.

For all those reading- I started this journal a year ago- and I remember it vividly. If you put your mind to it, you can quit too!!
